Hybrid #8

This hybrid bloomed on July 10, 2006, it is from cross #4 ((S. leucotricha x S. reitzii) x S. eumorpha #2).  The plant has the shape and size of S. eumorpha, the bloom is long and slim, light lavender with a white throat w/ lines and dots of a darker purple.

As you can see above the coloring is quite good, and throat is really nice with the white and darker stripes.

The bloom is about 1.75 inches (4.5 cm) long and about 1.75 cm wide.  As you can see from the buds it was going to be a really heavy bloomer, but I dropped it and broke the whole top off, right after I snapped this picture.  I am rooting the top and hope the tuber will resprout (as a side note it resprouted on July18, 2006).

Hybrid #8 and #2 are almost the same color, both also have the eumorpha type leaf, but this one has a much more intense throat with the white and darker purple.
